Recycle Juice Pouches & MoreA New project this year is to recycle the foil juice pouches at lunch. With the help of Olivet College student, Jessica Towsley, we have registered with TerraCycle and joined the juice pouch brigade. This project cuts down on our waste, earns money for our school, and TerraCycle recycles the juice pouches to make backpacks, pencil cases, and other products.
We recently added the Frito-Lay chip bag brigade and the Mars candy bar wrapper brigade. We are now able to recycle even more items, reducing our waste and making money for our school. | Juice Pouch & Chip bagsWe are averaging about 500 juice pouches and chip bags each month. This project reduces waste, recycles the waste, and raises money for our school. A huge thank you to parent and lunch worker, Andrea Wells, who counts and ships our labels each month.

Printer Ink CartridgesSEND IN YOUR USED PRINTER CARTRIDGES.
Our media center participates in a recycling program for schools called Cartridges for Kids by sending in used printer cartridges. CFK is an environmentally friendly progrm that pays cash for recyclable items. Paricipation helps protect the environment by keeping used printer cartridges out of our landfills and by recycling to help preserve our natural resources. | BatteriesWe use rechargeable batteries in our school whenever possible.
We collect and dispose of our non-rechargeable batteries in an environmentally friendly way. Recycle DrivePart of the Earth Day Celebration will be a school-wide recycling drive. Students are encouraged to bring in plastic water bottles, paper, boxboard (cereal box type boxes), and paper towel rolls to school during Earth Education Week-April 19-23. We are also collecting used printer cartridges and returnable pop cans and plastic pop bottles.
